William "Bill" Erkkila

William “Bill” Alfred Erkkila was born on November 22, 1935 in Wadena, Minnesota. His parents were the late Alfred and Edna (Tolkinen) Erkkila. Bill grew up on the family farm in Newton Township, rural New York Mills, Minnesota. He graduated from New York Mills High School and attended Moorhead State University. Bill proudly served in the United States Army from April 22, 1954 to April 20, 1956, he was stationed in Korea and Japan.  After the service Bill made his home in Wausau, Wisconsin where he was employed with Wausau Life Insurance Company. He enjoyed bowling and golf.

Bill has resided at the Wausau Manor since 2014. On April 21, 2020 Bill passed away at the Wausau Manor with the care of Aspirus Comfort Care in Wausau, Wisconsin at 84 years of age. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Preceding Bill in death were his parents, Alfred and Edna; brothers, Don and David.

Bill is survived by his sister, Elaine Murray; nephew, Joseph Murray; nieces: Paula Murray and Jennifer Fraser; other relatives and a host of friends.
