Vernadine Louise Jensen was born August 28,1939 to Raleigh and Stella Jensen of Rural Henning MN. She lived in Henning throughout her childhood until she met and married Harry Esmond Harper in 1956. She would become a homemaker as she followed her husband and his career, moving them to Minneapolis MN. She gave birth to a son, David Harper, in February of 1961. Five years later they would move to Oakdale, CA where her second son, Phillip Harper, was born in May of 1968.
A year later the family moved to Phoenix, AZ where they would live until 1998. During their time in Phoenix, Harry and Vernadine would dissolve their marriage in the mid 1980’s. They stayed friends until Harry's Death.
After moving back home to Minnesota, she would live in multiple communities throughout west-central Minnesota, eventually returning close to her roots in the Henning Area. During her time in Minnesota, she had found a career/ cause that she could work at and that she was deeply passionate about. She worked as a field agent for Community Safety Net, an organization that worked with local firefighters and police officers in towns across Minnesota to bring drug awareness programs to school kids in the middle grades.
After many years of performing this community service, she suffered a stroke that partially blinded her, ending that career path. Later, she would be plagued by an advancing kidney disease that took her life.
She was the last of her family's generation, being preceded in death by her former husband, beloved mom and dad, stepfather John, two brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by her two sons David, Phillip and his wife Robyn, 6 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces and friends.
