Thomas Duane Haro was born on June 24, 1944 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. His parents were the late Asher and Hilda (Isola) Haro. Tom graduated from the Sebeka High School with the class of 1962. He was employed in the construction of missile bases in Stanley, North Dakota, where he met his future bride, Dorothy Thronson.
On October 20, 1963 Thomas was united in marriage with Dorothy at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ross, North Dakota. Their marriage was blessed with 6 children: Ryan, Chris, Lisa, Sonja, Melissa and Jason.
In 1968 the Haro family made their home in Sebeka where Tom owned and operated Haro Oil and Gas Company for 10 years. Tom then commuted to Minneapolis where he worked as a construction foreman of clinics and commercial buildings in various parts of the country, retiring in 1999. Tom was a gifted carpenter and mechanic. It seemed there wasn’t anything that he couldn’t build or fix.
Tom loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and his dog, Max. He didn’t mind doing miscellaneous jobs for friends. He enjoyed observing wildlife and collecting photos with his trail cameras. Some of his favorite memories were those spent on the family annual vacation in Grand Marais, MN.
On October 20, 2023 Tom passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Lakewood Care Center at 79 years of age. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Preceding Tom in death are his parents, Asher and Hilda Haro; daughter, Sonja; siblings: Richard and David.
