Susan “Sue” Kjer, age 83, of Fargo, North Dakota (Formerly of Fergus Falls, Minnesota) passed away on October 21, 2024, at Fargo Elim Care. A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 28, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Henning, Minnesota.
Susan Margaret “Sue” Flom was born on April 19, 1941, to Gareld and Harriet (Clement) Flom in Wadena, Minnesota. She attended Henning High School, graduating with the class of 1959. Sue furthered her education at the Fergus Falls Beauty School.
On January 9, 1975, Sue was united in marriage to Richard (Dick) Kjer at the courthouse in Sioux Falls, SD. Sue along with her 3 boys: Jeff, Wayne, and Greg joined with Dick and together completed their family with their daughter Tonia. Together they built their beautiful life in Henning, MN. Sue was employed with Medallion Kitchens. Sue and Dick also worked together at Jennie-O Turkey Plant in Pelican Rapids for over 25 years and were also employed with The Daily Journal in Fergus Falls.
Sue was a member of the American Rabbit Breeders Association (ARBA), the Minnesota Rabbit Breeders Association (MSRBA), the Town and Country Saddle Club, and the Dane Prairie 4-H Club. She enjoyed raising, breeding, and showing rabbits on state and national levels and riding and showing horses. In 2024, Sue was the 11th person inducted to the MSRBA Hall of Fame. Sue cherished the time spent with her family, most importantly spoiling and loving her grandchildren. She spent a great amount of her time helping “her girls” raise and show: dogs, rabbits, goats, pigs and many other animals for the county fair. Sue enjoyed thrifting and rummage sales, spending days at animal auctions, and always attended her grandkid’s extracurricular events where she would be seen always smiling and cheering from the crowd.
Preceding Sue in death are her parents, Gareld and Harriet Flom; grandparents: Guy (Grace) Clement; son Gregory Kampsula; and grandson: Taylor Kampsula.
Sue is survived by her loving husband Dick; children: Jeffrey Kampsula of New York Mills; Wayne (Melissa) Kampsula of Sauk Rapids; and Tonia (Justin Resch) Joubert of Fergus Falls; daughter-in-law: Pat Kampsula of Ottertail; Grandchildren: Kaci Benner, Briana Joubert, Britni Langevin, Gregory Kampsula, Brady Stigen, and Carter Randklev; seven great-grandchildren; brother: Robert (Barb) Flom of Fergus Falls; many other relatives and lifetime friends.
