Susan Brown

Susan Brown, 64 of Staples, Minnesota passed away in her home on April 12, 2025.

Susan Lynn Johnson was born on August 29, 1960, to Donald and Marie (Miller) Johnson at Wesley Hospital in Wadena, Minnesota. She graduated with the Class of 1979 from Wadena-Deer Creek High School. Throughout her life, she dedicated herself to caring for others through her work in home health care, at a group home, and with the Developmental Achievement Center (DAC). Her compassionate nature extended beyond her professional life—she was also a devoted caregiver to her mother, Marie.

On January 21, 2011, Susan married the love of her life Kevin Brown. Though it was a cold day at -20 degrees and a 50-mph wind it was a beautiful day. She deeply loved her sons: Scott, Seth and Jeffrey and cherished her granddaughter, Ainsley Sue. Known for her warm heart and generous spirit, Susan brought comfort and kindness to those around her.

She found joy in simple pleasures like browsing garage sales and thrift stores. One of her fond memories included meeting country music star Tanya Tucker and spending time on the tour bus—a moment she treasured.

Susan’s passing will be mourned by her husband Kevin Brown; sons: Scott (Lynn) Keskitalo, Seth (Sami) Keskitalo, and Jeffrey (Brooke) Wuollet; Granddaughter Ainsley Sue; siblings: Mark (Lin) Johnson, Melissa (Jeff Blaha), and Wendy Johnson; nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Susan is preceded in death by her parents Donald and Marie.
