Steven Kimber was born on March 7, 1961, to Dennis and Judy (Rausch) Kimber, Steven grew up with a spirited personality that would define his life for decades to come.
A proud graduate of Bertha High School’s Class of 1979, Steven married his junior high and high school sweetheart, Nancy Matz, on August 1, 1981, at the Wadena Evangelical Church. Together they built a life rooted in love and family, raising two daughters, Jennifer and Kristine.
Steven was a devoted husband, father, and Papa whose dedication extended beyond his family to his work. He remained committed to his job until January 17, 2025 — a testament to his strong will and work ethic.
Known affectionately by many as the “Mt. Dew Man,” Steven had a magnetic personality marked by quick wit and a stubborn streak that endeared him to friends and family alike. His motto — “Go big or go home!”— captured the bold spirit with which he approached life.
Steven found joy in the outdoors and hands-on hobbies. He loved cars, hunting, fishing, guns, gardening, savoring good food, and taking spontaneous day trips on his motorcycle. These passions brought color to his days and connected him deeply with those around him.
Steven’s passing will be mourned by his loving wife Nancy; daughters Jennifer (Jim) Otto and Kristine (Brandon) Pearson; grandchildren: Evan, Carter, Avery, Bentley, Owen, Beckam, Haesten, Graham, and one on the way; mother Judy Kimber; siblings: Brenda (Rod) Kempe, Rhonda (John) Dittberner; Kevin Kimber, and Brad Kimber; sisters-in-law Renee (Merv) Kelley and Betty Knott; brother-in-law Ken Dittberner; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Steven is preceded into death by his infant son Jamie, grandson Corbyn, father Dennis, sister-in-law Lynette Dittberner, brother-in-law John Knott, nephew Travis Dittberner, and mother and father-in-law Darrel and Bev Matz
His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. May his legacy bring comfort and strength in the days ahead.
