Shonna Melchior Obituary

Shonna Marie Melchior, 44, died unexpectedly April 22, 2022 in Colorado. She was born November 14, 1977 in Wadena, MN, the daughter of Tom and Joan Brauch.

Shonna will always be remembered for her amazing smile. It was not only beautiful; it was the window to her heart. Shonna had a way of making everyone feel loved and comfortable around here. If you knew her for a minute it felt like you were friends your whole life. She had a heart of an Angel and she is one now. I know she is watching over all of us from above, just like she did when she was here. Shonna will always be with us. We are all so lucky to have been part of her life.

Shonna grew up and lived in Bluffton. She graduated high school from Wadena-Deer Creek in 1996. She graduated from the Radiology program at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, MN in 2001. Shonna worked at Tri-County Hospital for 20 years as a Radiology/ MRI tech.

Shonna enjoyed spending time with family and friends, the outdoors, running, and a passion to travel and explore all the great places in the United States with her family.

Shonna’s children were her life. Grace, Gage, and Gavin were her greatest love. Her world revolved around them and making sure they were able to have the best life possible. Whether it was the simple things like dropping them off or picking them up, going to every activity they were involved in, or just being their Mom. But most of all, it was showing them how to become a loving, happy, outgoing, compassionate, responsible, honest person. These are just a few of the great attributes of her and what she was instilling in our children by the life she lived. She will always be their biggest supporter and their greatest role model.

Shonna is survived by her husband, Chuck Melchior, her daughter Grace Brasel, sons Gage Brasel and Gavin Melchior. Parents Tom and Joan Brauch, brothers Steve Brauch (wife Tanya) and Jesse Brauch. Grand Pa and Grand Ma Leo and Doris Tabery, Grand Ma Donna Honigfeld. Ryan Brasel (former husband), several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and so many friends that Shonna always considered part of her family.

The family asks that cards be sent to Karvonen’s Funeral Home. In lieu of plants or flowers being sent, the family asks that you please plant a tree or a plant in her memory.
