Shirley Ann Dietrich, age 80, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2025, at her lake cabin Perham, MN. She was born on July 24, 1945, to Constant and Katherine (Bitz) Werlinger, and grew up on her family's dairy farm in Edgeley, North Dakota.
Shirley and her husband Robert lived the majority of their lives on a small farm in Verona, North Dakota where they milked Dairy Cattle, raised livestock and small grain crops. She loved life on the farm and was especially fond of all the animals she and her family would care for which included, horses, pigs, cows, chickens and plenty of cats and dogs.
She also cherished the balance that life offered beyond the farm. Each winter, she and her husband traveled to Florida, a tradition she looked forward to.
She found great joy and peace at her lake cabin, a place where she made lasting memories with her beloved grandchildren-Gillian, Genna, Zackary, and Jasmine. Shirley is survived by her devoted husband, Robert; her children Rob (Sherri) Dietrich, Jodie Swendseid, and Joleen (Mike) Samson; and her beloved grandchildren.
She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her steadfast work ethic, and the love she poured into her family, her farm, and the special places that meant so much to her.
Family has chosen to do a private celebration of life.
