Sheila Henstorf

Sheila Lois (Pickerain) Henstorf, age 70, of Ottertail, Minnesota, passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at Perham Living Nursing Home in Perham, Minnesota surrounded by her family.

Sheila Lois Pickerain was born on October 16, 1952, in Perham, Minnesota to Lee and Delores (Janke) Pickerain. She spent her summers at her beloved aunt Evelyn’s and uncle Wally’s lake place on White Iron Lake growing up. Sheila graduated from Frazee High School as part of the class of 1971. She went on to further her education earning her bachelor's degree in social work.

On July 31, 1981, Sheila was united in marriage to Gary Henstorf in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, and too this union one son Josh was born.

Sheila worked at the Wadena County Social Services office for 30 years, retiring in 2009.

Sheila was a strong-willed woman, yet she had the kindest, caring and loving soul. Making her a great social worker and mom. She enjoyed gardening, puzzles, games shows, soap operas, camping, and people watching. Sheila loved her pets and her loon décor. She was an amazing cook, and the family enjoyed her Sunday lunches, and she enjoyed Friday evenings around the campfire at the lake with neighbors and friends.

Deeply loved, Sheila’s passing will be mourned by her husband of 42 years Gary; her children: Jennifer (Mike) McDow and Josh Henstorf; her grandchild Reese McDow; her brothers Dick Pickerain, Kevin (Terese) Pickerain, Rodney (Debbie) Pickerain, Bruce Pickerain, and Larry (Pat) Pickerain; aunt Lois Janke-Hepola; many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

Sheila is preceded in death by her parents, brother Myron, aunt Evelyn (Wally), uncle Clarence “Lucky” and all of her cherished pets.
