Sheila Hagen Obituary

Sheila Ann (Bredberg) Hagen, age 75, of Henning, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at Perham Living Nursing Home.

Sheila was born on October 3, 1949, in Willmar, Minnesota, to Beauford and Ruby (Wall) Bredberg. In her early years, she lived in New London and Villard before her family settled in Henning in 1961.

Sheila graduated from Henning High School with the Class of 1967. On August 3, 1968, she married the love of her life, Donald Allen Hagen, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Henning. Together they built a loving home and raised three children.

Sheila held many jobs throughout her life, each centered around caring for others. She worked as a para at Henning School, supporting children with disabilities, and ran a daycare out of her home for several years while also waitressing at the Oakwood Supper Club. Later, she joined the Henning Nursing Home as an activities assistant and returned to school to earn her degree as an Activities Director. She retired from the nursing home after 25 years of dedicated service.

A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Sheila loved her family unconditionally and welcomed many “bonus children” and friends into her home. Known for her humor and “award-winning smile,” she brought joy wherever she went. Sheila was active in the Henning Women of Today, where she was honored with the Key Woman Award, and served her church as a Sunday school teacher and in other roles. She was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan and a talented lefse maker, traditions that her family will always cherish.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Don; her sister, Lynnae; and her parents.

Sheila’s memory will be forever treasured by her children: Chad (Stacy) Hagen of Round Rock, Texas; Tracy (Travis) Fick of Richville; and Stacy (Joe) Gregorich of Duluth. She will also be remembered by her “bonus children”: Paulina Robertsson of Sweden; Julie Schilder-Willert of Denmark; Johannes Brandle of Germany; and Paul Goerner of Germany. She was a proud grandmother to nine grandchildren — Hailey, Marcus, Dealia, Bradon, Sam, Leo, Joey, Josie, and Ruby — and great-grandmother to Roman. Sheila is also survived by her sister Michelle Miller of Las Vegas, Nevada; her brother Clark (Edna) Bredberg of Roanoke, Virginia; her loving sisters-in-law Betty (Chuck) Sheeley and Debbie (Carl) Linderkamp; and many extended family members and friends.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 7, 2025, from 5:00–7:00 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Henning, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday, September 8, at 10:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m., also at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
