Sharon "Sharry" Wallace, 73, of New York Mills, Minnesota passed away peacefully on June 26, 2026 at Oak Crossing, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.
Sharry was born on July 18, 1952, in Wadena, Minnesota, to Lawrance and Shirley (Johnson) Cooley. She met the love of her life, Gordon "Gordy" Wallace, while in high school. The two were united in marriage on February 22, 1969, at the Assembly of God Church in New York Mills. Together they built a life filled with love and shared adventures. They enjoyed camping, fishing, and spending cherished time with friends and family.
Sharry had a vibrant career working at Dean's Country Market, Howie's, Siep Drug, and Little Pine Machine Shop. She was known for her big heart and her natural gift for connecting with customers.
In her personal life, Sharry found joy in tending to her flower garden and watching birds. She adored her Rottweilers and had a passion for collecting salt and pepper shakers. A lover of music from the 1950’s especially Elvis Presley—her home was often filled with the sounds of her favorite tunes.
Sharry is preceded in death by her parents, siblings: Lawrance, Delphine, Irene, Leslie, Edgar, Caroline, Linda, Alice, and John.
Sharry will be remembered by her husband of 57 years Gordon; son Scott (Lori) Wallace; dog Turbo; sister Margaret “Peggy” (Don) Bjelland; nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Sharry’s warmth and enthusiasm for life left an indelible mark on those who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to all who mourn her passing.
