Sharon Witt

Sharon Witt, age 81, of Henning, Minnesota, passed away on August 18, 2024, at Perham Health in Perham, Minnesota.

Sharon Roselyn Menze was born on February 18, 1943, to Herman and Erna (Ohlrogge) Menze at Wesley Hospital in Wadena, Minnesota. She grew up on the family farm near Ottertail, Minnesota, and attended St. John’s Parochial school through the 8th grade, then went to high school in Henning, Minnesota, graduating with the class of 1961.

On June 17, 1961, Sharon was united in marriage to Vernon James Witt, Jr. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ottertail, Minnesota. Together they made a living farming various locations before finally settling on West Leaf Lake.  Vernon then drove milk truck for Land O' Lakes until September 30, 1996, when he unexpectedly passed away. Sharon remained at the home place until 2004 when she moved into the town of Henning.

Sharon was a very active member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Henning and was often there daily serving the Lord as the Sunshine Committee, taking part in bible study, and participating in the exercise group.  She kept busy throughout her life working as director of the Henning Senior Center, cashiering at B&D’s Grocery, babysitting and miscellaneous other jobs. She loved gardening, reading, doing puzzles, playing card games, watching the Twins and the Timberwolves, going thrifting, and most important to her, spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids. She also had a tremendous love for animals, especially dogs.

Preceding Sharon in death are her parents: Herman and Erna; husband: Vernon, Jr.; one infant daughter; daughter: Bonnie; brothers: Verlin Menze; and Arvin (Nancy) Menze; and sister-in-law: Phyllis Menze.

Sharon is survived by her children: Robbie (Beverly) Witt; James (Michelle) Witt; and Lisa (Scott Petersen) Rudolph; 8 grandchildren: Justice Witt; Jaden Witt; Sharnea (Reed) Marohn; Marissa (Alex Sandoval) Witt; Jeron Witt; Cale Rudolph; Jace Rudolph; and Alexis Rudolph; one "adopted" grandchild: Juan Cañas;  3 great-grandchildren: Jedidiah Marohn; Mavie Sandoval; and Redgie Sandoval; brothers: Marlyn Menze; and Delvin (Bettie) Menze; brother-in-law: Doug (Julie) Witt; sister-in-law: Betty Menze; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and a host of friends.
