Sally Ann Cavalier

Sally Cavalier, age 75, was born on January 26, 1951, in Perham, Minnesota, to Alex and Florella (Thompson) Cavalier. The middle of fourteen children, Sally grew up surrounded by the lively energy of a large family and carried that spirit with her throughout her life. She graduated from Perham High School in 1969.

Raised in the Catholic faith, Sally’s strong spiritual foundation remained an important part of her life. Her faith guided her values, shaped her deep commitment to family, and was reflected in her quiet generosity, compassion, and steady presence for those she loved.

Sally dedicated 47 years to a distinguished career in telecommunications. She began her career with “Ma Bell,” later working for AT&T and North American Communications. Her work took her from Moorhead, Minnesota to Phoenix, Arizona, and eventually to southwest Minneapolis, Minnesota. No matter where she lived, Sally built lasting friendships and embraced each community as home.

Sally had a vibrant and joyful social life, cherishing time with family and friends. As a beloved aunt, she created treasured traditions, taking her nieces and nephews on annual adventures throughout the Twin Cities—exploring museums, riding roller coasters, and making memories that will be retold for generations.

She held a deep love for the lakes of Otter Tail County and fulfilled a lifelong dream by building a cabin on Loon Lake in Vergas, Minnesota. There, she spent her summers soaking up the sunshine, listening to the call of the loons, and welcoming family and friends to gather by the water.

Sally was the matriarch of her family—steady, generous, and wise. She shared her kindness freely and offered guidance, laughter, and unwavering support to those fortunate enough to know her. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched.

She is survived by seven siblings: Ronnie (Lavonne) Cavalier, Gordon (Jackie) Cavalier, Wanda (Ron) Wallace, Linda (Marty) Engebrit, Roger Cavalier, Terry Cavalier, and Sherry Richards; as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Alex; her mother, Flo; and her siblings Eloise Schultes, Judy Braddock, Janet Videen, Ruth Cavalier, Sandy Strickland, and Rodney Cavalier.

Sally’s life was defined by devotion to family, dedication to her work, steadfast faith, and a deep love for the lake she called her summer sanctuary. She will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.
