Rosemary Gerads Obituary

Rosemary Agnes (Rohr) Gerads, age 76, formerly of Bluffton, MN, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 21 at Eventide Lutheran Home in Moorhead.

Rosemary was born October 16, 1949, at Wadena County Hospital to Theodore H. and Beatrice I (O’Toole) Rohr. She grew up in Bluffton and graduated from Wadena High School with the Class of 1967. On December 27, 1969, she married the love of her life, Glen Gerads, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Wadena. Together they built a life filled with family, friendship, and were blessed with two sons, Travis and Trenton.

Throughout her life, Rosemary worked in several roles including waitress, salesclerk, and—most dear to her heart—childcare. She operated her own in‑home daycare and was recognized by both the county and the state of Minnesota for her exceptional dedication and service. Caring for children came naturally to her, and the families she supported remember her with deep affection.

Rosemary treasured time with family and friends. She rarely missed a school event, game, or activity involving her children, grandchildren, nieces, or nephews. Many weekends were spent gathered at her mother’s home or visiting siblings and in‑laws, where laughter and conversation filled the rooms. Weeknights often included coffee with Glen, neighbors, and friends, whether at the local restaurant or out on the back deck. She loved going on motorcycle rides with Glen and traveling with loved ones. Rosemary was truly happiest when surrounded by people; her warm presence brought comfort, joy, and connection wherever she went.

Rosemary is survived by her sons Travis (Lisa) Gerads of Hudson, WI, and Trenton (Sarah) Gerads of Moorhead, MN; sisters Pat Wlasiuk of Brainerd, and Ginny (Dave) Steuart of Ruthton, MN; grandchildren Mackenzie, Alayna, Nolan, Dawson, and Griffin Gerads; great‑grandchildren Delaney Gerads, Kinsley Gerads, and Oakley Hakes; and many cherished nieces, nephews and in-laws.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Glen; her brother James “Jim” Rohr; her sister Barb Rowan; and her grandson Peyton Gerads.

Memorial service and interment in St Ann’s Cemetery TBD or at a later date this spring.
