Ronald "Ron" Skudlarek

Ronald Peter Skudlarek, the oldest of fourteen children, was born on April 7, 1948 to Peter and Dorothy (Stellmach) Skudlarek in St. Cloud, Minnesota. He attended Cathedral High School, graduating with the class of 1966. Ron was drafted into the United States Army on July 19, 1967 and was stationed in Germany. He was honorably discharged on June 30, 1969.

On September 11, 1971, Ron was united in marriage to Rosalie “Rose” Bechtold at St. Wendelin Catholic Church in Luxemburg, Minnesota. Their marriage was blessed with five children. Together they made their home in Rice, Minnesota for 15 years, moving to Lincoln, Nebraska in 1986. Ron was employed with Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad for 42 years, retiring in 2008.

Following retirement, Ron and Rose retired first to their home on West Leaf Lake and then moving to Deer Creek and finally residing in Ottertail. Ron had many loves in his life, including love for his family, the outdoors, fishing, reading, politics, sports cars, Friday morning gatherings after church and of course Elvis. But the greatest love of his life on earth was his wife of 50 years, Rose.

On June 30, 2021, Ron was called home at the age 73 peacefully surrounded by his wife and children. His strong Catholic faith guided him throughout his life and prepared him for his journey home. Ron is preceded in death by his father, and brother Peter.

Surviving Ron is his loving wife: Rose; daughters: Angela (Jeff) Keuten; Jennifer (Doug) Wilson; Michelle (John) Wangler; and Maria (Andy) Semerad; son: Benjamin Skudlarek; 11 grandchildren; sisters: Rita Burger; Vivian (Jerry) Steabner; Virginia Haggerty; Jo Henning; Judy Skudlarek; Jean (Ron) Mrozek; and Gail Katzmarek; brothers: Larry (Karolyn) Skudlarek; Loren (Denise) Skudlarek; Mark (Sandra) Skudlarek; Gary (Carolyn) Skudlarek; and Dale (Denise) Skudlarek; many other relatives, community of Saint Edward’s Catholic Church and a host of friends.
