Richard Lloyd Otto was born on July 6th, 1954, to the late William (Bill) and Margaret Otto in Virginia, MN. Throughout his life he lived in Hutter, Sparta, Biwabik, Eveleth, and Henning. On April 22nd, 1994, he was united in marriage to Michelle Habermann Otto. He worked for Minntac as a MEO (Mining Equipment Operator) for almost 37 years and retired from there on January 27th, 2019.
Richard loved to listen to music while going on car cruises and to car shows with his family. Some of his favorite things to do included restoring classic cars and going on motorcycle rides with his son, Don and later his grandson, Brandon. Spending time with his family was very important to him, and he cherished every moment he got to be with them.
On June 19, 2025, Richard passed away surrounded by his loving family at his home in Henning, Minnesota at the age of 70 years old. He’s now in that big garage where all the sockets never get lost, paint never runs, and all the parts always fit. Preceding Richard in death were his parents, Bill and Margaret; his infant twin daughters; his sisters: Adeline (Jack) Spaeth and Caroline Otto; his brothers: Cliff, William, and James Otto; his father-in-law, Ronald Habermann; and his brother-in-law, Michael Zinski.
Richard is survived by his loving wife, Michelle Habermann Otto; his brothers: Walter Otto of Illinois and Fred Otto of Arkansas; sister-in-law, Blanche Otto; his children: Donald Otto (Rozanne Frost) of Henning and Joe (Kathy) Otto of Aurora; his grandchildren: Amanda, Brandon, Annabelle, Brooklyn, and Jasmine Otto; his mother-in-law, Delores Olsen; his brothers and sisters-in-law: Kim Zinski, Beth (Al) Haring, Steph (Bob) Stecker, Ed (Tracy) Habermann, Steve (Linda) Habermann, and Tim (Amy) Habermann; his cousin, Tony (Kim) Mannila, and many nieces and nephews.
