Richard Lee Grotberg, 74, of Sebeka, Minnesota passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2023, at St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, Minnesota with his family by his side.
Richard Lee Grotberg was born on October 7, 1948, to Edwin and Frances (Magilke) Grotberg in Bemidji, Minnesota. He was the fourth child out of thirteen and graduated from Bemidji High School in 1966. Richard moved to Rochester where he met the love of his life in Karen Schultz. The couple were united in marriage on February 24, 1968 in Rochester, Minnesota and to this union three children were born.
Rich was drafted into the United States Army and served one year in Vietnam before his honorable discharge. Rich retired from NEI Bottling in Bemidji after 25 years before moving his family to Nimrod, Minnesota where he and his wife owned the Nimrod bar for three years. Richard was a hard-working man who provided well for his family. He knew how to relax as well as spend time with his family and friends who were very important to him. He had a great sense of humor and good personality. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, travelling, snowmobiling and spending winters in Arizona with his family and friends.
Deeply loved, Rich’s passing will be mourned by his wife of 55 years Karen; his children: Missie Rist, Richard (Laura) Grotberg, and Angela (Alan) Weaver; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; siblings: Carol Sorheim, Ed Grotberg, Vickie Erickson, Barb (Ron) Pederson, Jim Grotberg, John Grotberg, Danny (Sheila) Grotberg, Larry (Kim) Grotberg, Ole Grotberg, and Mary Grotberg; many nieces and nephews and extended family.
Preceding Rich in death are his parents; siblings Elsie (Marvin) Elliot and Pete Grotberg; sister-in-law Marlys; and brothers-in-law Les Erickson and Loren Sorheim.
