Rebecca "Becky" Lee

Rebecca Lee, age 49, of Fergus Falls, Minnesota, passed away surrounded by the love of her family after courageously battling ALS for the past 18 months.

An open house celebration of life for Becky will take place on Saturday, September 13th, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 with a prayer service starting at 11:00 at Belmont Karvonen Funeral Home in Henning, MN. 

Rebecca Lynn Magnuson was born on June 10, 1976, at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale, MN, the daughter of Craig and Kathy (Gervais) Magnuson. She grew up in Battle Lake, MN, and graduated with the Class of 1994 from Battle Lake High School.

Over the years, Becky made her home in Racine, WI, Warroad, Crookston, Grand Rapids, and Baudette before settling in Fergus Falls with her devoted partner of 19 years, Jeff Cavanaugh, and their beloved cat, Oona. Together, Becky and Jeff shared countless adventures—road trips, camping, kayaking, and spontaneous getaways that often led them to Becky’s favorite stop in Brainerd: Mickey’s Subs.

Becky had a love for reading, especially physical books, and she was rarely seen without a Coca-Cola in hand. She enjoyed concerts, casino trips, cheering for her Minnesota Vikings, and caring for animals of every kind. Her generous spirit, laughter, and zest for life left an imprint on everyone who knew her.

She is survived by her loving partner, Jeff Cavanaugh, and their cat Oona; her mother, Kathy Magnuson of Henning, MN; her sister, Laurie Magnuson; her aunt, Pam (Les) Clark; cousins Sarah and Morgan; and nephew, Liam Cordell. She is preceded in death by her father, Craig Magnuson.
