Patrick Spicer Obituary

Memorial Services will be held for Patrick Spicer, age 72 of Bemidji, Minnesota on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Mt. Zion Church in Bemidji, Minnesota.

Patrick Michael Spicer was born on July 10, 1948 in West Branch, Michigan. His parents were the late Lt. Col. Laurence and Catherine (Grandpre) Spicer. Growing up in a military family, Patrick lived in many different places; including: Illinois, Ohio, Texas and Germany. He enjoyed spending time during the summers with his grandparents in Detroit, Michigan and Norwich, New York.  After graduation, he attended Wilberforce University in Wilberforce, Ohio.

In 1977 Patrick was united in marriage to Molly Johnson in Yellow Springs, Ohio. In 1979 Patrick and Molly moved from Ohio to Guthrie, Minnesota, where they raised their family: Joshua, Austin, Aaron and Catherine. He loved and sacrificed for his family and friends, always putting others first.

He loved hunting, fishing, gardening and working in his apple orchard. He started working with stained glass in 1974 and worked in his studios creating and repairing many windows over the years, for homes and churches, mostly in Northern Minnesota.

Through the early 70’s, his heart and lifestyle changed dramatically, by finding his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He began reading the Bible, preaching and ministering to many people, until the time that his Lyme’s related illness disabled him.

Days before his death, he spoke about the “Worthy Lamb of God who was slain.” On April 27, 2021 Patrick passed away surrounded by his family, looking toward Jesus Christ, Author and Finisher of his faith. Preceding Patrick in death were his parents, Laurence and Kay; sister, Denise and brother, Larry.

Patrick is survived by his loving wife, Molly; children: Joshua (Kelly) Spicer of Pataskala, Ohio; Austin (Sara) Spicer of Bemidji; Aaron (Sarah) Spicer of Wadena; and Catherine (Dan) Sullivan of Bemidji; 20 grandchildren; siblings: Cathy Setsuda of Jackson, Michigan; Donna Waggoner of Warren, Michigan; Mari (Byron) Ewick of Cookeville, Tennessee; and Conley (Chris) Titus of Tucson, Arizona; many other relatives and a host of friends.

A burial service was held for Patrick on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Pioneer Cemetery near Wadena, Minnesota.
