Patricia "Pat" Tuorila

Patricia Francis (Tracy) Tuorila

Pat was born in Minneapolis on October 2, 1940. She grew up with 6 brothers and sisters and a large extended family. Pat graduated from Patrick Henry High School in Minneapolis and attended The College of Saint Scholastica in Duluth, after which she became a Benedictine nun and teacher for many years.  After leaving the order, Pat continued to teach elementary school classes. She loved all of her students and was voted "Teacher of the Year" several times. In June of 1978, she married the love of her life, Raymond Tuorila and moved to Sebeka, MN. A special blessing for Pat and Ray was hosting Oystein Ellingsen, a high school exchange student from Norway. Oystein, his parents, and later, wife and children have remained cherished extended family over the years.

In her retirement, Pat continued to tutor children and taught Catechism classes at St. Hubert Catholic church in Bluegrass, MN. She also traveled extensively and enjoyed visiting family and friends in the US and abroad. Pat had many retirement adventures including zip lining, sky diving, surfing lessons, air boat excursions and a lot of Florida beach time. She especially enjoyed being in Denver, CO with her great-nephews, Max and Ari, whom she adored.

Pat will be missed by her niece Kelly Komppa of Jacksonville, FL, her nephew Tom Komppa of Sebeka, MN, nephew Ryan Tracy and great-nephews Max and Ari Tracy of Denver, CO and Oystein Ellingsen and family. She also leaves behind extended family, friends and beloved students.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Tuorila, parents, Thomas and Ruth Tracy, and her siblings Ruth, Thomas, Barbara, Mary Therese, John, Michael and Theresa.

Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 am, Saturday, August 9th at St. Hubert Catholic Church, 22008 County Road 23, Sebeka, MN 56477. Visitation at the church one hour before Mass.

Private interment at Saint Patrick's Cemetery, Maple Grove, MN.
