Norm Umland was born on November 3, 1938, to Ella (Guetzo) and Henry Umland in Bertha, Minnesota. Norm met Judy Markuson while roller skating in Wadena. The couple were married on June 27, 1959, and they were blessed with four daughters.
Norm was employed with Coop Services and later with Dean's Country Market as a meat department manager. He was a member of The Knights of Columbus, Lions, and The Rod & Gun. He loved to play cards, fish, hunt, golf, bowl, woodworking, and loved to spend time with family at the lake. Norm and Judy spent their retirement winters in Arizona.
Norm is preceded into death by his parents, Henry and Ella Umland, his brothers and sisters, infant great-grandson Kirby Speer, and his sons-in-law Larry "Buff" Bell and Mark Phillips.
Norm will be dearly missed by his wife, Judy of 65 years, daughters, Nancee Phillips, Jodi (Russell) Speer, Mari (Vince) Truax, and Pam Bell. Grandchildren: Trevor ( Ali) Phillips, Colin (Cassie) Phillips, Caitlin Phillips, Shaunna Speer, Brett (Rylee) Speer, Jason (Kaari) Speer, Justin (Kori) Speer, Brennen (Joelle) Truax, Cody (Sara) Truax, Mason (Keelie) Truax. Great Grandchildren: Lachlan, Lucy, Reddek, Krew, Scarlett, Thayer, Sutton, Winston, Finnley, Gemma, Kandall, Kayden, Maci, Cooper, Dakota, Avery, Alexandra, Kobe, and Tyson.
