Nancy Nelson

Nancy Nelson, age 80, of Sebeka, Minnesota passed away on March 29, 2023 under the gentle care of Knute Nelson Hospice at her home in rural Sebeka, Minnesota. No services are to be held at this time.

Nancy Louise Grinnen was born on April 5, 1942 to Walter and Viola (Quint) Grinnen in Chicago, Illinois. She grew up in Austin, Minnesota and attended high school before moving to St. Paul, Minnesota.

In 1976, Nancy made her home in Sebeka, Minnesota where she met James “Jim” Nelson. In 1977, Nancy and Jim moved to Montana, and in the spring of 1978 then moving to Wyoming where they were employed at a uranium mine.

On December 18, 1983, Nancy and Jim were united in marriage in Casper, Wyoming. Shortly after, they returned to Minnesota and made their home on a farm in rural Sebeka where they farmed together for 40 years.

Nancy is preceded in death by her parents: Walter and Viola; and Rodney, Tommy, Richard, and Susanne.

Surviving Nancy is her husband of 39 years, James Nelson of Sebeka;  her children: James Gilliland of South Jordan, Utah; Laurie Girard of Hudson Wisconsin; Dawn Price of Centerville; and Chris Gilliland of Jacksonville, Florida; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; siblings: Virginia Anderson, Kimberly Carter, Judy Bulever, and Kathy Foley; many other relatives and a host of friends.
