Nancy Mae Becker was born in New York Mills on March 10, 1930. Her parents were Louise and Christ Frost. She was one of 12 children. She attended country school through 8th grade. She started at a young age doing a variety of jobs including a nanny, telephone operator, and working at an egg distributor.
On June 30, 1947 she married the love of her life, Lawrence Max Becker at Trinity Parsonage in New York Mills. They had a dairy farm and stayed in that profession until they retired in 1983. They moved into New York Mills and continued to enjoy their church and friends and volunteering.
Nancy was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church for 76 years where she enjoyed quilting, LWML and choir amongst numerous activities that she volunteered for.
She loved life and lived it fully. Her hobbies included gardening, sewing, baking, card playing, volunteering and HER 8 CHILDREN. She was an avid fan of sports, music and dancing.
She found joy in almost everything. Her grandchildren loved to spend time with her because she was so young at heart. She cherished her nieces and nephews. She was always curious. She was a cheerleader for any underdog. Her faith was unwavering which lead her to raise her family to know and love God.
Nancy passed away on March 31, 2023 at “The Meadows” in Wadena where she resided for her last year of life. (Her family greatly appreciates all the nurturing and care that she was provided.) She participated in every activity up until her passing.
Nancy will be dearly missed by her 5 daughters: Judy Dykhoff of Perham, Rebecca (Joe) Johnson of Phoenix, Pauline (Dick) Boyer of Perham, Janice (Michael) Aldrich of Carefree, Arizona, Valerie (Tim) Ebeling of Circle Pines, Minnesota; 3 sons: Elman (RoseMary) Becker of Perham, Thomas Becker of New York Mills, Bruce (Laura) Becker of Perham (She also loved being a part of her sister Gail’s family – Cindy, Delbert, Raymond, Jimmy and Billy.) 15 Grandchildren, 25 Great Grandchildren; Sisters Annie Hess of Verndale, Jane Windels of New York Mills; Brothers Roger Frost of New York Mills and Daniel Frost of Andover plus many nieces, nephews, other relatives & a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence; parents Christ and Louise Frost; son-in-laws Dave Born and Dick Dykhoff; sisters Gail Sandback and Ruby Murphy and brothers Melvin, Clarence, Adrian, Duane and Jack.
When Nancy drew her last breath….she did so knowing that her job on earth was complete. She could join Lawrence. She had her grown children living with the knowledge that Christ is their Savior!
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Trinity Lutheran Church of New York Mills, Minnesota.
