Myrtle Peterson Obituary

Myrtle Louise Peterson was born on November 3, 1917 in Butler, Minnesota. Her parents were the late William and Augusta (Gutekunst) Rader. Myrtle was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Corliss Township, Minnesota. Myrtle grew up on the family farm. She attended Country School District #244 in Butler. On June 30, 1938, Myrtle was united in marriage to Louis Matz at St. John's Lutheran Church in Corliss Township, Minnesota. Their marriage was blessed with 5 children. Myrtle and Louis resided in Pine Lake Township where they farmed for 20 years. Louis worked as a carpenter until he retired. Myrtle was employed first with Lee Rogert at Big Pine Resort, then at Jungle Shores for 3 years, and Sunset Beach for many years. She was also employed for 7 years for Jack and Bert Hofland at Country Side Store and 10 years as a cook in Perham School from 1972 until her retirement in 1982. Louis passed away on November 15, 1991. On November 21, 1992, Myrtle was united in marriage to George Peterson. Myrtle and George resided on George's farm until 1994 when they moved to New York Mills. George passed away on November 23, 2004. Myrtle was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Corliss Township and Trinity Lutheran Church in New York Mills. Myrtle enjoyed gardening, quilting and playing cards. Myrtle passed away peacefully on November 26, 2014 at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota at 97 years of age. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Preceding Myrtle in death were her parents; husbands: Louis Matz and George Peterson; infant son: Dale Matz; brother: Lester Rader; sister: Fern Anderson. Myrtle is survived by her daughters: Linda (Lloyd) Quittschreiber of Bloomington; Lana (John) Howard of Birchwood, Wisconsin; sons: Duane (Marilyn) Matz of Perham; Don (Marlene) Matz of Perham; sister-in-law: Erna Rader of Perham; many other relatives and a host of friends.
