Muriel Nelson transitioned to her heavenly home on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at The Meadows in Wadena, MN.
Muriel Faye Klucas, was born on June 2, 1940, to Sylvan and Dorothy (Bradford) Klucas, in Hutchinson, MN. The Klucas family moved around a bit, so Muriel attended schools in the country, Eagle Bend, Buffalo Lake, and graduated from Bertha High School in 1958.
Muriel met the love of her life at the young age of 16. She married Dale Nelson on March 7, 1959, at the Hewitt Church of the Nazarene. They bought an 80-acre farm one mile from Dale’s childhood home and farmed in tandem with Dale’s parents. They were blessed with four children: Kimberly, Jeffrey, David, and Camilla. As much as Muriel cherished her family, her walk with her Lord and Savior was most important to her.
Muriel began working in the newspaper industry as a typesetter at the Wadena Pioneer Journal in 1970 and then later at The Staples World.
In 1990, Dale and Muriel sold their farm and embarked on a new adventure, moving to Warroad, MN and worked at Marvin Windows for 13 years. They retired near Akeley and then transitioned to Motley in 2010 and Wadena in 2023.
Over the years Muriel enjoyed many hobbies. She was an avid Sunday School and Bible School teacher, sang in the church choir, enjoyed gardening, sewing, and knitting. Other family memories include her passing around Altoids to those around her, giving her grandchildren “5 knee pats”, playing a card game after dinner and getting the bowl of snacks out, and many other memories that made her family chuckle.
Muriel is survived by children: Kim (Marcus) Edin, Jeff Nelson, Pam Nelson, Dave (Christi) Nelson and Cam (Deron) Erickson. Grandchildren: Lance Edin, Amanda Edin, Andrew (Haley) Nelson, Anthony (Allison) Nelson, Sarina (Sheldon) Baron, Ryan Nelson, Carrie (Dallas) Ehrmantraut, Katie (Kevin) Will and Kellie (Caleb) Farber. 15+ Great Grandchildren, Siblings; Bob (Valera) Klucas, Shirley (Con) VanBatavia, Lois Johnson, nieces and nephews, and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale, and parents, Sylvan and Dorothy Klucas, and brother-in-law, Melvin Johnson.
The family of Muriel Nelson would like to thank The Meadows of Wadena and St. Croix Hospice for the excellent care of their mother.
