Mildred Williams Obituary

Mildred Canzadia Williams was born on February 15, 1927 in Kendrick, Oklahoma to the late William and Evelyn (Stalford) Smith. Mildred married Elmer David Williams in 1943 in Fresno, California.

While she completed High School in 1945, Elmer went off to serve his country.  After graduating from Roosevelt High School in Fresno, Mildred completed the Nursing Program at the Fresno City College. While raising a family, Mildred pursued her career at the Fresno County Hospital’s Tuberculous Unit. Later in her career, Mildred moved to the Pediatrics Department of the hospital where she retired from nursing in 1994. Mildred thoroughly enjoyed sewing, gardening and especially reading. Her health was truly spectacular until recently, after her 92nd birthday. Mildred belonged to the Red Hat Ladies Group of Wadena, the Senior Ladies Exercise Group and was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church of Wadena.

Mildred passed away peacefully at home with her loving family along her bedside and the gentle care of Knute Nelson Hospice on April 28, 2019 at the age of 92 years old. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elmer David Williams; oldest daughter, Cheryl Hockett; son, David Allen Williams and brother, Kenneth Smith.

Mildred is survived by her two daughters: Louise (Ed) Lewis of Wadena; Patricia Williams of New York; sister; Sylvia Higbie of Inverness, Florida; brother, Edward Smith of Fresno, California; 13 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and a host of other more distant relatives and loving friends.
