Merton Dennis Swenson was born on January 26, 1951 at the Wesley Hospital in Wadena, Minnesota. His parents are Marlys (Christianson) Swenson and the late Merton Swenson.
Dennis attended school in Sebeka, Minnesota. After High School, he served in the Army Reserves and then transferred to the National Guard.
Dennis met Betty Elaine Welter on the Huntersville Trail Ride in Huntersville, Minnesota. On March 14, 1970 Dennis was united in marriage to Betty at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in New York Mills. Their marriage was blessed with a son, Mike.
Dennis’ passions were trucking and farming, which he did until the present. He enjoyed his cabin at Lake of the Woods and Mesa, Arizona. He loved riding motorcycle, camping, fishing, hunting, and especially spending time with his grandchildren.
On April 15, 2022 Dennis passed away at the St. Cloud Hospital at 71 years of age. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Preceding Dennis in death was his father, Merton; infant sister, Elaine; and his wife, Betty in 2020.
Dennis is survived by his son, Mike (Nina) Swenson of New York Mills; his mother, Marlys Swenson; grandchildren: Dylan, Leah, Kassidy and Saige; siblings: Bev Tiegen, Merlyn (Lynn) Swenson, Marvin (Patty) Swenson, James (Deb) Swenson, Glenda Swenson, Chris Swenson, Richard (Kathy) Swenson, Susan (Dave) Swenson, Robert (Kim) Swenson, Phillip (Julie) Swenson, Tony (Connie) Swenson, Charlie (Wendy) Swenson and Tina (Kevin) Spielman; special friend, Jean Wallgren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
