Melvin Galdoni passed away at home on November 28, 2025, surrounded by his family in Wadena, Minnesota. He was born on October 27, 1942, in New Kensington, Pennsylvania, to Albert and Dorothy (Yuengling) Galdoni.
Melvin attended schools in New Kensington and later built a career as a dedicated truck driver. He worked for Budweiser before continuing his career with Ideal Laminating. His strong work ethic and commitment were evident throughout his professional life.
It was at a TABA picnic that Melvin met Portia McClain, beginning a lifelong journey together. He was known as a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather—roles he cherished deeply.
Outside of work and family, Melvin found joy in simple pleasures. He enjoyed bowling and playing horseshoes, often spending time camping with friends. He took great pride in keeping his vehicles meticulously cleaned and maintained. One of his greatest joys was watching his granddaughters play softball, a pastime that brought him immense happiness.
Melvin is preceded into death by his parents Albert & Dorothy; sisters Carol Dicky and Gay Jordan; brother Gary Galdoni; and two infant great-grand daughters Brielle and Chloe.
Melvin is survived by his wife of 50 years Portia; children: Michelle (Mike) Holes, Paul (Nakeyia) Holes, Debbie Galdoni-Hood, Diana (Tim) Galdoni-Nash, and Melvin Galdoni Jr; grandchildren Jessica, David, Kiersten (Matt) Kattie (Andrew) Alisha (Nick), Brandi, Brad, Chad, Trevor, Trace, Nia, Brice, and Zarah. 19 great-grandchildren; brother: Rich (Arlene) Galdoni; nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Melvin’s memory will live on through the lives he touched and the love he shared. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
