Melisa Margareth (McWethy) Demers was welcomed to this earth on New Years Day. She was raised alongside six siblings by parents, Kenneth and Lynn McWethy. She married at the young age of 19, near due with her first of five beautiful children. When Melisa was young, she enjoyed things like wearing dresses, learning new things and caring for her siblings; Mindi, Joey, Jordan, Megan, Ashleigh and Kenneth Jr. (KJ).
Life for Melisa was full of struggles, but she fought through them all for her children and grandchildren. While being a stay-at-home mother with a severely disabled son, Melisa earned her Master’s Degree in Homeland Security and Criminal Justice as Summa Cum Laude. She was known for her faith and dedication to her disabled son, Jacob. In 2023, Jacob fought a life-threatening medical battle, and Melisa was by his side through it all. She relied on her faith to pull him through, and he has since made a near full recovery. This is not the only instance her trust in God was tested and strengthened.
Melisa lived with two of her daughters, her son, and her two grandchildren. Her house was a painting of colors filled with John Wayne, elephants, gnomes and God. She was constantly surrounded by loved ones. Even in her final moments, she shared laughs with those she loved. Melisa believed family and faith were the backbones of a happy and good life. May she live with God in peace and serenity.
Melisa lives on through her parents, Kenneth and Lynn McWethy; children: Katlynn, Kyrsten, Jourdan, Jacob and Rylie Demers; grandchildren: Liam & Timothy Demers-Kehn; other relatives and a host of friends.
