Mary Vetter Perius was called home to heaven suddenly on March 8, 2021 at age 54.
She was born to James and Anna Mae Vetter on April 8, 1966 in Baudette, Minnesota. After graduating from Perham High School in 1984, she attended St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing and Minnesota State University, Moorhead, graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. She married Paul Perius in May of1991. Together they moved to Alaska where they had 2 children: Megan and Ryan.
Mary was a devout Catholic and member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Sepon Catholic Parish. She loved spending time with her children, friends and family She was a skilled nurse and caregiver that especially enjoyed traveling to remote Alaskan communities as a Nurse Consultant Supervisor for the State of Alaska. She devoted special volunteering time harvesting corneas for the local Lions Eye Bank. Her time spent working with children as an Anchorage School District nurse was an example of her big heart and skills in caring for others. Mary was a staple at local hockey rinks watching her beloved son Ryan and entertaining local hockey moms with her witty sense of humor. She supported local youth sports programs, including figure skating, baseball and hockey She valued spending time with her beautiful daughter Megan, shopping, attending sporting events with her, and also dreaming of traveling the world together. She will be dearly missed by all that knew her.
She is preceded in death by her father, James D. Vetter, niece, Mariah Brooke Nissen, grandparents, Mike and Mayme Rebuck, and Bruno and Grace Vetter. She is survived by daughter, Megan Perius of Minnesota, son, Ryan Perius of Bozeman, MT and their father, Paul Perius of Williston ND, mother, Anna Mae Vetter of New York Mills MN, sisters, Teri Nissen (Jim) of Nebish, MN Laure Laughlin (Ron) of Bluffton MN, Kelly Larson (Larry) of Hawley, MN, nephews, Aaron and Andrew Nissen, Matthew (Mackenzie) and Isaac Laughlin, her beloved four-legged friend, Kiska of Anchorage, AK, extended family, and many friends.
