Marvin Dreyer Obituary

God our Father called to His heavenly home the soul of Marvin Dreyer on January 20, 2025, at the age of 93 years.

Marvin Ernest Dreyer was born August 6, 1931, at home in Ottertail, Minnesota to Arthur and Betty (Thalmann) Dreyer, the fifth of seven children. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Ottertail, Minnesota where he remained a lifelong member.

Marvin attended St. John’s Lutheran School through the 8th grade and graduated from Perham High School in 1949. After graduation Marvin farmed with his father and brother Wendell, and later with his son Dan until his retirement. He also served in the United States Army, stationed in Korea. On June 15, 1963, Marvin married Donna Carman in Sebeka, Minnesota.  Together they raised four children.

Marvin is survived by his wife Donna, his children Nancy (Thomas) Schmitz of Frazee, Minnesota; Daniel (Michele) Dreyer of Ottertail, Minnesota; Mary (Matthew) Willey of Normal, Illinois; and Kim (Scott) Spadgenske of Buffalo, Minnesota; 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Margaret Dreyer of Chisago City, Minnesota; brother-in-law Clayton Thomas of Roanoke, Virgina along with many nieces and nephews.

Marvin is preceded into death by his parents, sisters Rosella (Delmont) Lueders, Oradell Kuklock, Edna (Herbert) Cloeter, Betty Thomas; brothers Lloyd Dreyer and Wendell (Karen) Dreyer; niece Donna Lueders and nephews Mike, Rollie, and Scott Kuklock; his father-and mother-in-law Oscar and Claresse Widell and brother-in-law Robert Mills.

Our family would like to thank the Henning and Perham EMS, Ottertail Fire and Rescue, the doctors and nurses at Sanford Health and Hospice of the Red River Valley for the care and kindness shown to Marvin during his final days.
