Marlene Curtis Obituary

Marlene “Sally” Louise Weber was born on November 28, 1940, in Menominee, Wisconsin. Her parents were the late John Lawrence and Geneva Bernitta (Werner) Weber. Marlene was Baptized in Menomonie, Wisconsin and Confirmed at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Baron, Wisconsin. Marlene graduated from the Baron High School with the class of 1958. On September 26, 1959, Marlene was united in marriage with Ethan Alton Curtis. Together, they made their home in Minneapolis from 1959-1961 and then from 1962 to 1978 in Mound, Minnesota. Marlene was employed at the Federal Reserve Bank and Tonka Toys.

In 1978 the Curtis Family made their home in Perham. Marlene was employed with Pine County and then Barrel O’ Fun for 29 years, retiring in 2014. Marlene was an active member of the Christian Mothers at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Otto Township. She also enjoyed playing cards, sewing, lawn work, gardening, outdoor activities, rubbing elbows with the stars at WE-Fest, but most of all spending time with family and friends.

Marlene passed away at her home on Rush Lake, surrounded by her loving family on November 14, 2021, at 80 years of age. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Preceding Marlene in death were her parents, John, and Geneva Weber; husband, Ethan Alton Curtis; children: Michelle, Raphael, Gabriel; granddaughter, Kristy Jo Niemela; siblings: Thersa (Joan) Christopherson and Lowell Weber; sister-in-law, Joan Weber.

Marlene is survived by her children: Allen (Paula) Curtis of  Maple Plane ; Brenda (Michael) Niemela of Wadena; Brian (Lori) Curtis of Perham; Pamela (Jeff) Wiire of Hewitt; Jean (Alex) Rethemeier of Perham; Jesse Curtis of Perham and Kevin Curtis of Perham;  siblings: Marvin Weber of Flourissant, Missouri; Carol (James) Lutzen of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin; Corine (Walter) Roberts of Miltona; sister-in-law, Cleo Weber of Ridgeland, Wisconsin; brother-in-law, Bob Christopherson of Ridgeland, Wisconsin; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren; other relatives and a host of friends.
