Lois Caroline (Hasbargen) Peterson, age 89 of Menahga, MN, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully at Green Pine Acres Nursing Home on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, with her Bible and family by her side.
Lois was born on April 1, 1935, to Clarence and Florence (Kimball) Hasbargen on the family farm in Runeberg Township, Minnesota. She was baptized on June 23, 1935, and confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church, Menahga. She attended Country School District 62 and then later Menahga High School.
Lois married Charles Peterson on September 3, 1952, and their marriage was blessed with seven children. The couple made their home in Menahga, Minnesota.
Lois was a homemaker for a majority of her life but when the children were out of the home she began working as a nursing home aide at Green Pine Acres in Menahga. Faith was always an important part of Lois’ life. She was a lifelong member of Bethany Lutheran Church and was very active in Sunday School, Bible studies and Ladies Aide like her mother and grandmother before her. Over her 89 years, Lois found joy in various interests including creating art by painting, knitting and quilting. Other interests included gardening and attending garage sales. In her younger years, Lois (and Charles) played cards with family and friends.
Lois is mourned by her children: Karen (Tim) Paurus, Dale (Judy) Peterson, Janet (Brian) Anderson, Steve (Cindy) Peterson, Carl (Judy) Peterson, and Ross (Sheryl) Peterson; daughter-in-law Terri Peterson; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren; siblings: Curtis, Ardis and Marlene; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Lois is preceded in death by her husband Charles, her parents Clarence and Florence Hasbargen, son Norman, siblings Lucile, Lorraine, Charles, and Kathy.
The family wishes to extend a gracious thank you to the staff of Green Pine Acres Nursing Home, CHI Hospice and Pastors James Hallaway and Sam Carlson for the last year of loving care.
