Levi Savela

February 14, 1998 ~ September 1, 2023 (age 25) 25 Years Old

Obituary

Levi Edward Savela, age 25, died tragically in a motorcycle accident on Sept 1, 2023 near Frazee, Minnesota.

Levi was born February 14, 1998 to Curt and Dory Savela at TriCounty Hospital in Wadena, Minnesota. He grew up in rural Sebeka and attended Sebeka school, graduating in 2016. He then attended Minnesota State Community and Technical College in Wadena for Electrical Technology, receiving his degree in 2018. Levi moved to the St. Cloud area and worked for JBerd Electric and later Wiman Corporation, before moving back home in October 2022. He was employed by BTD Manufacturing in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota at the time of his death.

Levi was an active child in his growing up years, spending most of his time outside. He didn’t ever have time to sit, he was happiest when he had things to do and places to explore outdoors. He became interested in archery and after a lot of determination and research, made his own recurve bow from scratch, starting with a tree in the woods. He spent a lot of time working on his bow hunting skills, target practice in the yard at home and bow hunting with his dad in the fall. He was a creative person, and recently made a European mount with a whitetail deer that he harvested. Archery was his first love, and he would practice for hours at a time.  Levi purchased his first compound bow and spent countless hours in the woods and went to Kansas to hunt with his dad.

Levi was very passionate about every hobby he started. He threw himself into it and spent countless hours perfecting his skills in everything he was interested in. He loved to work on puzzles and spent hours looking for the pieces to find a particular area to complete.

Levi had a love for motor sports and would be riding four wheelers and dirt bikes on trails with his brother and enjoyed making videos for their YouTube channel.

Levi then found the joy of street bikes and dreamed of owning a Zx6r Ninja which he then purchased. The bike was his life. He rode every chance he got, and it usually would take hours for him to drive the forty minutes home from work.

Levi spent years as a teenager learning Tae Kwon Do with his cousins Sam and Seth. He worked out at the gym off and on for years, weightlifting. He was always conscious of healthy active living.

Levi adored his nieces and nephews and they adored Uncle Levi right back. He had incredible patience with them. He colored pictures with them at the table, did puzzles, and let them “help” him in the garage if he was working on a project. He played ball with them, played games on his phone with them and gave them rides on the ATV and played Monopoly. They could rope him into any sort of shenanigans. There was always a child or three following him around.

Levi’s sense of humor will be missed. He had a knack for finding humor in almost every situation. He was always singing or whistling, and everyone always knew where Levi was if he was home.

Levi is survived by his parents, Curt and Dory of Sebeka, MN, sisters Marianna (Matthew) Vareberg, of Detroit Lakes, MN, Janessa (Jonathan) Skoog of Williston, ND, Nicole (Justin) Roberts of Williston, ND, Kirsti Savela of Williston, ND, and brother Nathan Savela of Sebeka, MN. Beloved nieces and nephews, Cohen and Briar Vareberg, Eden, Harper, Finley and Haven Skoog, Jack Roberts, and step nieces Madi and Lily Roberts and many, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Levi was preceded in death by his grandparents Harley and Laura Savela and Uno and Maxine Makela; his beloved Uncle Frank Makela; aunts Vergene Hendrickson and Karen Savela; uncles Carl Rintamaki, Don Kosola and Joe Hensel.

Levi will be dearly missed but forever in our hearts.
