He was born July 8th, 1941 in Perham, Minnesota to the late Lawrence and Lora (Mastin) Moss. He married Linda (Faught) on December 5th, 1959. They started their life together in Erie, North Dakota, moving to rural Menahga in 1964. They were blessed with four children.

Sonny worked most of his life as a heavy equipment operator starting at the age of 13. One of his first jobs was preparing the land work for Emmanuel Nursing Home. He was a hobby farmer and a very talented carpenter and mechanic. He built the family home in 1975 and assembled several unique vehicles using various pieces from his scrap yard. Throughout the years he enjoyed logging and sawing lumber on the sawmill for his construction projects. He was artistic and creative. He taught himself to play the mandolin. He loved music and enjoyed band concerts. Sonny was not a fan of crowds but enjoyed conversation with family and friends. He had a great sense of humor and kept everyone laughing, even in his final days. He loved babies, children, and animals, whom could often be found on his lap. His family will miss his wonderful hugs and kisses.
