LaVonne Evans

LaVonne Evans, age 84, of Wadena, Minnesota passed away on August 28, 2024, at Lakewood Care Center in Staples, Minnesota.

LaVonne Mary Goraczkowski was born on March 1, 1940, to Stanley and Irene (Haisman) Goraczkowski. She attended Wadena High School, graduating with the class of 1958.

LaVonne met Douglas ”Doug” Evans at the Long Prairie Roller Rink. They were united in marriage on June 10, 1959. Together they made their home in El Paso, Texas, and Council Bluffs, Iowa, while Doug was enlisted in the United States Army. Following his honorable discharge, they made their home on a farm in rural Wadena, Minnesota. LaVonne helped keep the farm running while Doug was driving truck, often driving the tractor and baling hay.

LaVonne enjoyed sewing clothes and Barbie Doll clothes, gardening, canning tomatoes, and snowmobiling. She loved hosting Christmas Eve celebrations and liked going on annual fishing trips.

Preceding LaVonne in death are her parents: Stanley and Irene; and siblings: Darlene Kincade; Joseph Goraczkowski; and Roger Goraczkowski. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

LaVonne is survived by her loving husband Doug; children: Jennifer (Chad) Broker; Laurie (Tino Voigt) Gregory; Jeffrey (Bonnie) Evans; and Russell (Tana) Evans; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister: Jan Mickelson; many other relatives and a host of friends.
