Kristie Renee Johnson was born on August 13, 1978 at Tri-County Hospital in Wadena, Minnesota to Donald William and Barbara Kay (Koth) Johnson. Kristie grew up in rural Verndale and graduated from Verndale High School with the class of 1996. Kristie attended Moorhead State University where she received a degree in mass communications. She was employed as a teacher’s aide at the YMCA in Fargo and for the past 20 years, Kristie was employed at Valley News Live in Fargo, where she worked as a TV news director.
Kristie enjoyed running half marathons, vacationing and sight-seeing through New York City, Utah, Chicago and parts in between with her sister, Tammy. She was a U2 groupie and enjoyed flowers and gardening. Her adventurous side led her to skydiving and a flying trapeze school. Kristie loved to spend time with and spoil her nieces and nephews.
Kristie passed away under the gentle care of Hospice of the Red River Valley at her family home in Verndale, at age 42, on July 6, 2021. Kristie will be remembered for her strength she showed during a 19-month battle with cancer. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She accepted Christ at a young age and now rests in the comfort of her Father in Heaven.
