It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kevin Engebretson, 66 after a long illness. He passed on December 26, 2024, with his life partner, Suze Ament by his side, offering love and unwavering support through it all.
Kevin Charles Engebretson was born on July 1, 1958, in Fargo, ND to Marlys (Herfindahl) and Orland Engebretson. Kevin graduated from Moorhead High School. He was employed at Abbott Arne Schwindt Inc. in Moorhead for 40 years as a heavy machine operator. He loved his work and took great pride in doing it well.
Kevin was a fun loving, creative man with an infectious sense of humor that made him a joy to be around. He enjoyed riding and racing dirt bikes and four wheelers. He also enjoyed renovating antique snowmobiles. Whether telling a funny story or cracking a joke, Kevin had a way of making everyone laugh, brightening any room he entered. He will be remembered for his wit and the laughter he brought to those around him.
Kevin was preceded in death by his parents Marlys and Orland Engebretson. He is survived by his life partner of 38 years Suze Ament, his sisters, Kari Engebretson, Kelly Thomas, Kathleen Kaley, and Tina Kupitz and his brothers in law; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He is also survived by Suze’s siblings, who always considered him a part of the family, LeRoy, Scott, Melissa, Christopher and Beth.
Kevin’s legacy will live on through the many fond memories he created with those fortunate enough to have known him. He will be deeply missed.
A celebration of life will be held at the Thumper Pond Resort in Ottertail, MN on February 15th from 2pm to 5pm in the Lakes Banquet Room.
