Kenneth "Ken" Lawson

Kenneth “Ken” Allen Lawson, age 83, of Wadena, Minnesota, passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Lakewood Health System in Staples, Minnesota, with his family by his side.

Kenneth Allen Lawson was born on April 26, 1943, in Berlin Township in Steele County, Minnesota, to Vernon and Henrietta (Jensen) Lawson. His family moved to Wadena in 1957 from Clarks Grove, Minnesota. Ken attended and graduated from Wadena High School as part of the class of 1961.

Ken was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart Nancy Huffman on August 4, 1962, at the United Methodist Church in Wadena, Minnesota. The couple were blessed with three children Dan, Jerry, and Karie.

Ken worked numerous jobs which included; dairy farmer, Uselman Electric, Tony’s Transfers, and Lund Boats.

Ken loved attending all of his grandchildren’s sports and school activities. They would drive many miles and would miss very few. This continued with his great-grandchildren, whether it was a horse show or a dance recital Ken and Nancy were in the stands.

Ken enjoyed watching the MN Twins and taking his side by side out for a ride. He kept the birds well fed in the yard and would often sit in his recliner with a cup of coffee and watch the birds.

Ken is preceded in death by his parents Vernon and Henrietta and his parents-in-law Charlie and Joyce Huffman.

Deeply loved, Ken’s passing will be mourned by his wife of 63 years Nancy; his children: Dan (Melissa) Lawson, Jerry (Andrea) Lawson, and Karie (Jeff) Steinke; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; brothers Mick (Marcy) Lawson and Gary (Lois) Lawson; sister Jean (Dale) Johnson; brother-in-law Wayne (Carol) Huffman; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
