Kelly Lound

Kelly Dean Lound, age 65, of Verndale, Minnesota, passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at his home after a short battle with cancer.

Kelly Dean Lound was born on September 21, 1959, in Crosby, Minnesota to Russell and Violet (Sorsveen) Lound. He attended and graduated from Crosby High School as part of the class of 1978. Kelly then went on to further his education by attending Alexandria Technical College for truck driving.

Kelly worked as a truck driver for his entire career and was very proud of the fact that he had over six million miles of safe driving. The last nine years he spent with his favorite trucking buddy a five-pound Pomeranian named “Griz”. Kelly was always remembered for either cracking a joke or the “Big” guy with the little dog. While working at Polman Transfer he met the love of his life, Susan “Sue” Wallgren. Kelly was united in marriage to Sue on June 15, 1985, in Bluffton, Minnesota and to this union four children were born: Megan, Hannah, Alex, and Dylan.

Kelly loved anything to do with classic cars, he still has his first car he bought in high school a 1964 Thunderbird, he also had a 1979 TransAm and his most recent car obsession, a 1955 Thunderbird. Kelly also enjoyed showing his cars at the local car shows and at the “Back to the 50’s” car show. Kelly loved riding his Harley and had made several trips to Sturgis Bike Rally over the years.

Kelly also enjoyed fishing, as long as it wasn’t for “those lazy walleyes”, as he put it. He loved spending time at the seasonal camping spot, with his family and friends.

Deeply loved Kelly’s passing will be mourned by his wife of almost 40 years years Sue; his daughters Megan (Rich) Lepper and Hannah (Andrew) Deschene; his sons Alex and Dylan Lound; his grandchildren: Mason, Avery, Emmett, and Dominik; his siblings: Linda (Mark) Hilde, Dave Lound, and Steve (Shirley) Lound; brother-in-law Jerry Anderson; many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Kelly is preceded in death by his parents Russell and Violet, sister Terry Anderson, and in-laws George and Jeanette Wallgren.
