Karen Moats Obituary

Karen Lee Robertson was born on April 2, 1953 in Anoka, Minnesota.  Her parents were the late Francis “Blackie” and Lourine Bessie (Kreger) Robertson.  Karen attended the Spring Lake Park School and graduated from the Elk River High School with the class of 1971.  Following high school Karen was employed at Able Drywall in Ramsay.

On August 17, 1979 Karen was united in marriage with David Moats in South Dakota.  Their marriage was blessed with 3 children: Angela, David III and Derek.  Karen and David made their home in Fridley and then moved to Alexandria in 1981 where Karen was employed at Barthelemy Fur Company.  They resided for a short time in Parkers Prairie and Almora before making their home in Hewitt in 1994. Karen was employed as the soft goods supervisor with Homecrest in Wadena from 1994-2015 and most recently at Compass Consultants in Perham where she was a cad drafter.

Karen loved spending time with her grandchildren, sewing, camping and playing cards, especially cribbage.

On August 31, 2021 Karen passed away at Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby, Minnesota at 68 years of age.  She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.  Preceding Karen in death were her parents, Blackie and Lourine Robertson; son, Darrell Moats; brother, Chad Robertson.

Karen is survived by her husband, David Moats of Hewitt; children: Angela (Lee) Klimek of Hewitt; David III (Angie) Moats of Deer Creek and Derek Moats of Wrightstown; 8 grandchildren: Matthew, Brandon, Aiden, Korie, Cannon, Madyson, Bradley and Oliver; brothers: Wade (Linda) Robertson and Miles (Linda) Robertson; sister-in-law, Laurie Robertson; many other relatives and a host of friends.
