Julie was the daughter of Richard and Rose (Danzl) Wesp. She graduated from Omaha Technical High School in 1980, where she participated in the Air Force ROTC program. Her passion for baking began early in her career at Dunk'n Donuts and continued to flourish when she moved to Wichita, Kansas, working at Erdmann's Bakery.
In the fall of 1991, Julie married Carl Johnson. Together they relocated to Otter Tail, Minnesota, in 1993. There, Julie fulfilled a lifelong dream by establishing the Otter Tail Bakery in 1994. Over the next three decades, she owned and operated the bakery with dedication and heart, making it a cherished part of the community.
Julie also worked at Kwik Trip and Instrument Flight Research Company during her career. After Carl’s passing on October 31, 2009, she found companionship again when she met Randy Johnson in 2011. She became a beloved stepmother and grandmother to Randy’s children and grandchildren.
Those who knew Julie remember her as a beautiful human being—a devoted sister, aunt, friend, and pillar of warmth and kindness.
Julie is preceded into death by her parents; husband Carl; and uncle Major James Danzl.
Julie will be mourned by her beloved of 15 years Randy Johnson; children: Annie (Andrew) Capistrant; Kristin Johnson, Sean Johnson, and Casey Johnson; grandchildren: Alex, Arlo, Juniper, and Thatcher; siblings: Karen (Phil) Ford; Wayne (Linda) Wesp; Janet (George) Rody; Robert (Sandy) Wesp; aunt Dr. Agnes Danzl; many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her.
