Jon Christiansen

September 20, 1980 ~ September 7, 2023 (age 42) 42 Years Old

Obituary

On September 7, 2023, Jon Lee Christiansen passed away unexpectedly at his home. Jon was born on September 20, 1980, to Rick and Deb (Wischer) Christiansen in Marshall, MN. He was baptized into the Lutheran faith in Marshall.  Jon grew up in the country by Green Valley, MN with his mom, dad, sister Sara (Christiansen) Oscarson and his beloved hunting dogs. Jon graduated from Marshall High School with the class of 1999. He continued his education at Minnesota Community and Technical College in Canby, MN where he received his degree to become an electrician. He then moved to Detroit Lakes, MN to work as an electrician apprentice. This is where he welcomed his daughter Leah Jane Christiansen on September 1, 2008, with his first wife Jennifer Pedersen.  He later went to Hibbing, MN to pursue a degree in Law Enforcement. He made his way back to Verndale, MN where he met Brittany (Dean) Christiansen. They were married on October 12, 2019.  Their marriage was blessed with a son, Colton Eli Christiansen on August 15, 2021.

Jon had many jobs that he loved throughout the years, but more recently Jon was employed by USIC. This is where he met tremendous coworkers that he respected and would always talk highly about.

Jon’s enjoyment included hunting, snowmobiling, four wheeling and many other outdoor activities, especially with his daughter Leah. Jon’s best friend was his dad. They enjoyed everything together and would often laugh until they cried. Growing up in Marshall his family spent many memorable weekends at their family cabin in Ottertail, MN.  Jon loved teaching his sister Sara how to ski, knee board, wake board and tube while growing up, but being a true brother, he was more concerned about knocking her off the tube rather than teaching. Jon’s favorite past time was spending mischievous moments with his partner in crime, John Nilges, who he called his brother. Jon and John gave his mother Deb a few gray hairs over the years, but she loved them both dearly. When he met his wife Brittany, they were truly two peas in a pod. They shared everything together from fixing up their house, building a shed, hunting, camping, teaching Leah everything they could, and raising Colton to love all the same things.  Jon’s proudest moment was watching his daughter Leah be a big sister and protector of her baby brother Colton. Grief never ends…but it changes. It’s a passage, not a place to stay.  Grief is not a sign of weakness, nor a lack of faith…It is the price of love.

Proceeding Jon in death are his father Rick Christiansen, grandparents LeVoy and Rosella (Barry) Christiansen and Albert and Ellen (Evenson) Wischer.

Survived by wife: Brittany (Dean) Christiansen; two children: Leah Jane and Colton Eli Christiansen; mother: Deb Christiansen; sister: Sara (Mark) Oscarson and their son Zachary; Brother-in-law: Mitchell (Hayley) Maanum; Sister-in-law: Alissa (Darrin) Steffens; father-in-law: Joseph (Julie) Callahan; Mother-in-law: Kristi (Jerry) Anderson; and many other friends and relatives who he loved dearly.
