John Moenkedick Obituary

John Paul Moenkedick, age 68, of Deer Creek, Minnesota, passed away on Friday, April 26, 2024, in his home with his loving family by his side.

John Paul Moenkedick was born on March 7, 1956, in Perham, Minnesota to John and Irene (Minten) Moenkedick. He graduated from Perham High School as part of the class of 1974. After high school, John went on to earn his certification as a meat processor.

John was united in marriage to Charlene Rodvold on August 18, 1979, in Crosby, North Dakota, and to this union five children were born: Michael, Megan, Tyler, Jordan, and Melissa.

John lived in many places including Perham, Fargo, Watertown, and lastly Deer Creek where he made his home. He worked at Held Beef in West Fargo, North Dakota, owned and operated a meat market in Watertown, South Dakota, R&R Trucking in Fargo, North Dakota, and Lund Boats for 25 years. When the family moved to Deer Creek in 1989, John bought a dairy farm which he farmed while working at Lunds.

John enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood working, farming, and mechanics. His family meant the world to him and spending quality time with them every chance he got.

Deeply loved, John’s passing will be mourned by his wife of 44 years Charlene; his children: Michael (Dawn) Moenkedick of Fergus Falls, MN, Megan (Scott) Hollermann of Ponsford, MN, Tyler (Claire) Moenkedick of Ottertail, MN, Jordan (Beau) Kouba of Regent, North Dakota, and Melissa (Seth) Bercier of Henning, MN; his eleven grandchildren; his siblings: Bruce (Paulette) Moenkedick, Judy (Dennis) Miller, Greg (Tina) Moenkedick, Karen (David) Hanson, Leo Moenkedick, Vickie Moenkedick, Florence (Tim) Schmitz, Mary (Dan) Storrusten, Andy (Katy) Moenkedick, and Diane (Tom) Mertens; many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

John is preceded in death by his parents John and Irene, father and mother in-law Melvin and Alice, brother Nick, brothers in law Loren Rodvold, Steven Rodvold, Doug Hachfeld, Jerry Allen and sister-in-law Beverly Allen.

John finished his race well. We thank God for the privilege of being his family and will honor him by carrying on his legacy of love, faith and being helpers.
