Joanne Weller Obituary
Joanne Weller, born on September 17, 1943, in Wadena, Minnesota, to Leo and Marie (Goeden) Andrie Sr., passed away peacefully at her home on July 6, 2026, in Ottertail, Minnesota, surrounded by her loving family.
Joanne pursued her education in nursing at Brainerd and began working at Wesley Hospital in Wadena, where she met Joe Weller. As Joe would often say, she caught his eye the moment they met. The two were married on June 21, 1965, and spent 61 years together building a beautiful life.
Joanne was a woman of deep, unwavering faith, which served as the cornerstone of her existence and guided her through every season of life. She especially enjoyed showing her devotion by praying the rosary, a prayer she held close to her heart throughout her life. An active member of the Christian Mothers at her church, she lived her spirituality as a daily practice, exemplifying kindness, forgiveness, and grace in all her interactions. She never spoke ill of anyone, consistently choosing to see the best in people and reflecting the compassion she held in her heart.
Her commitment to service extended to her community, where she served as a 4-H leader, mentoring young people with patience and care. She was a generous hostess who loved gathering family and friends, always ensuring everyone had more than enough food and felt welcomed. Her love for gardening, sewing, crafts, and celebrating holidays also brought joy to those around her. She enjoyed traveling to state fairs, county fairs, parades, the North Shore, and the Black Hills with her family. She also enjoyed her plants, flowers, playing piano, and watching the MN Vikings.
Above all else, Joanne’s greatest source of joy was her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved attending all of their activities and never missed an opportunity to be there for them. Whether through her thoughtful sewing projects and crafts, the stories she shared, or the way she celebrated every milestone, her devotion to her grandchildren was the centerpiece of her world.
Joanne is preceded in death by her parents, Leo Sr. and Marie Andrie; and her siblings: Audrey Breid, Philip Andrie, Phyllis Vorderbruggen, Leo Andrie Jr., Dick Andrie, Mary Wegsheid, and John Andrie.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Joe Weller; their children: Dean (Kristi) Weller, Jean (Wendell) Loe, Dan Weller, Tim Weller, Janel (Lance) Kirchner, Jeff (Holly) Weller, and John (Toni) Weller; her grandchildren, who were the light of her life: Christopher Weller, Heather Weller, Austin Loe, Ashton Loe, Jake Weller, Dylan Kirchner, Jackson Kirchner, Vlasta (Bryce) Rach, Grace Weller, Brenden Weller, and Hannah Weller; her great-grandchildren, Kyler Rach and Elsie Rach; along with her extended family.Joanne’s warmth, generosity, and the love she had for her family left a lasting mark on all who knew her. May her memory, rooted in faith and defined by love, bring comfort to those who mourn her passing.
