JoAnne Joyce Jorud was born on October 5, 1943, at Wesley Hospital in Wadena, Minnesota. Her parents were the late Joseph Hartwick and Clarice Fredricka (Svarvari) Jorud. JoAnne was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. She graduated from Henning High School in Henning, Minnesota with the class of 1961. After high school JoAnne was employed at International Multi Foods in Minneapolis and later at US Bank in Robinsdale, Minnesota. In 2007 she retired and made her home in Alexandria, Minnesota.
JoAnne was an active member at Bethesda Lutheran Church. She loved cross-country skiing, downhill skiing and had a passion for Ski for Light where she would assist and teach the visually impaired and mobility impaired adults the sport of classic cross-country skiing.
She also enjoyed gardening, making jam and lefse, traveling to Norway and playing mahjong with friends.
On April 29, 2025, JoAnne passed away peacefully with the gentle care of Vivie Hospice at Bethany on the Lake in Alexandria, Minnesota. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Preceding JoAnne in death were her parents, Joseph and Clarice Jorud. She is survived by her sister, Judy Tiede; nieces: Mary Springer, and Stacy Bartels; nephews: Mark (Krissy) Tiede, Jason (Tracy) Tiede; great nieces, nephews, and many great-great nieces and nephews along with a host of friends and relatives.
