Janice Marie Barker was born on August 29, 1940, at home on the family farm in Almora, Minnesota. Her parents were the late Leonard LeRoy and Adeline Elizabeth (Olson) Barker. Janice attended country school in rural Almora.
On March 24, 1979, Janice was united in marriage with Leonard Frank Krider in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Together they made their home in Minneapolis until Leonard retired in 1990. In 1991 they made their home in rural Henning. Janice enjoyed working part time at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Battle Lake, Minnesota
Janice enjoyed going to the casino. She loved fishing and a good fish fry with the catch afterwards. Janice would spend time watching and feeding the birds.
On March 4, 2006, Leonard passed away. Janice continued to make her home in rural Henning and most recently in the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Battle Lake.
Janice passed away on Friday, July 21, 2023, at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home with her family by her side.
Janice is preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Krider, her parents Leonard and Adeline Barker, sisters Anna Ronning and Debra Hetrick, and brothers James, Jerry Barker and Erv Ellingson.
Deeply loved, Janice’s passing will be mourned by her children: Joyce (Kevin) Hammerot, Vicki (Eugene) Hollatz, Doug (Leah) Moe, Julie (Dave) Marie, and Lisa (Mike) Buising; her stepchildren: Dawnn (Michael) McLaughlin, Lenny (Pam) Krider, Mike (Susan) Krider, Tracie (Jim) Seaver, Vincent Krider, and Christine Gunter; her 14 grandchildren; her 11 great-grandchildren; sisters: Betty La Rue and Beverly Barker; sister-in-law: Juanita Barker, and many nieces and nephews.
