James "Jim" Maloney Obituary

James “Jim” Edward Maloney was born on July 11, 1943 in Tower City, North Dakota. His parents were the late Denis and Mary (Gruman) Maloney. The Maloney Family moved to rural Deer Creek, Minnesota in 1952. Jim graduated from the Deer Creek High School with the class of 1961. After graduation, Jim went on wheat harvest in Oklahoma, Kansas, and Nebraska. In June he went to work at Farmers Coop in Deer Creek as a mechanic for five years.

On April 6, 1963 Jim was united in marriage with Sandra Lea Bendix in Deer Creek, Minnesota. Their marriage was blessed with 2 children: Bonnie and Rodney. Jim started farming in the fall of 1965. In June of 1968 Jim and Sandy bought the family farm from Howard and Lillian Morey. Together Jim and Sandy have resided and farmed in Compton Township, rural Deer Creek their entire lives.  After selling the cattle, Jim was employed at Homecrest in Wadena from 1998-2008.  In 2010 when the tornado came through, Jim and Sandy lost their home and rebuilt a new home on the family farm.  Jim also enjoyed hunting, fishing and his dog, Duke.

On September 3, 2022 Jim passed away at Fair Oaks Lodge in Wadena, Minnesota at 79 years of age.  He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.  Preceding Jim in death were his parents, Denis and Mary Maloney; siblings: Norman (Jan) Maloney; Betty (Roy) Redfield; brother-in-law, Jim Hill.
