Irvin Fraki Obituary

Irvin William Fraki was born on the family farm on January 10, 1922 in Leaf Lake Township, New York Mills, MN.  His parents were the late John and Lydia (Palo) Fraki.  He attended Country School, District #134, N. Leaf Lake Township.  On September 4, 1944, Irvin was united in marriage with Mae Maki at Messiah Lutheran Church in St. Louis, Missouri. Their marriage was blessed with three children.  

He was a combat veteran and served in the US Army during World War II from 1944 to 1946 in the 30th Infantry Division, in Belgium and Germany.  

Irvin and Mae made their home in New York Mills where he was employed at the NYM Creamery, the Co-op grocery store and Russ Davis Wholesale in Wadena, MN.  From 1956 to 1978, Irvin and Mae owned and operated Irv’s Grocery on the south side of New York Mills.  

Irvin and Mae spent 4 years in Richfield, MN managing a Senior apartment complex before moving back to New York Mills in 1984.  They moved to Baxter, MN in 2004 and both enjoyed traveling the USA and spending time with family, friends and neighbors.

Irvin passed away on July 19, 2020 at Essentia Health St. Joseph Medical Center in Brainerd, Minnesota at 98 years of age.  He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Preceding Irvin in death were his parents;  sisters: Drusilla Falk and Rosalie Walz;  brothers: Hubert and Dennis (Lillian); brothers-in-law: Jalmer, Matt, William, Waino, Arvo, Edwin, Victor Maki and their spouses; sisters-in-law: Fanny Maki, Signe (Verner) Porkkonen and Lillian (Dennis) Fraki.

He is survived by his wife, Mae Fraki of Baxter; daughters: Connie (Stan) Tikkanen of Plymouth, and Corrine (Nels) Baden of Maple Grove; son: Michael (Nadine) Fraki of Baxter; 6 grandchildren: Brent Tikkanen, Kelly (Greg) Lang, Christopher Baden, Erik (Vanessa) Baden, John (Fiancée, Steph) Fraki, Thomas Fraki; 2 great-grandchildren: Rebecca and Nickolas Lang; brother: Larry (Joy) Fraki of Pine Island; many nieces, nephews and friends.
