Iris Farr

Iris Vera Gaines was born on April 17, 1927 to John and Edna (Ahlberg) Gaines in Sheldahl, Iowa. She lived in Iowa and Missouri before moving to the Nimrod, MN area when she was 7 years old. Her family owned and operated a farm near Oylen, MN.

She was united in marriage to Roger Farr on January 11, 1947 at Iris’ home in Oylen. Together they built their homes in Little Falls, Minneapolis and Wadena, MN. She was a talented draftsman, as she drew up the plans for their eight homes.

She helped Roger with clerking his auctions, and worked sales and was a bookkeeper in their distributing business.

On May 31, 2024 Iris passed away at Lakewood Care Center in Staples, Minnesota at 97 years of age.  She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.  Preceding Iris in death were her parents, John and Edna; husband, Roger; siblings: Robert Gaines, Carrol Gaines and Margaret Anderson.

Iris is survived by her sister, Portia Dow of Los Angelas, CA; and many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
